These days, there are many stress reduction techniques available to us. We can do a time management workshop, or learn to interact more effectively with our ‘to do’ list. But what do we do when, despite our best efforts, stress is still negatively affecting the quality of our lives and work?
When we are stressed, what we have is our relationship to our own mind. This is true in any situation, at any time, no matter what is happening. And we can learn to work with our minds, and cope with difficulties in a new way. By learning and practicing mindfulness meditation, we give a gift to ourselves and to those around us by becoming calmer, more balanced, and more awake in each moment of our lives.
Featured on the Bill Moyers’ PBS series “Healing and the Mind,” this training helps us respond more creatively to stress and pain, while enjoying the many health benefits of mindfulness meditation.
